Australia Day, the nation celebrates and reflects

26 January

Sydney Harbour takes centre-stage on Australia Day for the Ferrython, Australia Day Live, Australia Day Parade, Tall Ships Race, Australia Day Regatta, Tug and Boat Ballet, flyovers, fireworks and more. Discover our range of Australia Day cruises.

Reflect, Respect and Celebrate are the core messages as we are encouraged to pause and reflect on the First Nations Australians and to celebrate our cultural diversity and rich migrant heritage as only Australians can. In future years the date may well change away from the anniversary of the landing of Captain Arthur Phillip, but for now 26 January marks a spectacular finale to the Summer holidays and the Sydney Festival.

Our island home, past and present

On Australia Day, and every day, we acknowledge the Indigenous Australians who have lived on our island nation for over 65,000 years, the Gadigal people of Sydney and the millions of immigrants who have come from around the world to call Australia home. Our national day of reflection and celebration is constantly evolving, as we as a nation grow. One thing millions of Australians agree, is the best place to celebrate all that makes Australia wonderful is on our spectacular harbour.
